sshhhh don't tell the kids, but it looks like we are going here for a week long vacation in the summer! a few details to be worked out yet, but we were looking at deals online last night and found a good one that is within our rather tight budget!
Today I got a tweet from Holy Cow Cupcakes telling me I should go into the store to pick up a cupcake to taste test for them.
Another Twitter user had mentioned a few days before they had seen a cupcake with a Cadbury Creme Egg baked into it and they asked HCC if they would make one and that they thought for sure we could find some Carmel Twitter users who would taste test it for them. For a laugh I sent a reply saying I would and then thought nothing of it. I mean, what are the chances that I will get the chance to taste test a new cupcake for free? I used up all my good luck when I found $5 walking with the kids to school a few days before!
Fast forward to today and I am coming out of the kids school after volunteering in the Kindergarten Parent Center and I check for notifications on my phone. I see I have a couple emails and a Twitter mention. The Tweet tells me to go to HCC and pick up a cuppie to test for them! Woo-Hoo! I Tweet back saying I will drop by to pick it up on my way b…
It was rainy with a little bit of thunder and lightening earlier in the day but it kicked off a bit more later in the night. The tornado sirens were going off in Carmel and surrounding towns as the National Weather Service in Indianapolis issued a tornado warning for the area. Local NBC station WTHR cancelled the finale episode of "Parenthood" and their FB page and Twitter profile was inundated with people complaining about the fact they channel was showing news about the weather and not their tv show!
We eventually woke the kids and took them into the storage cupboard under the stairs as we don't have a basement. Almost as soon as we got in the cupboard, the NWS cancelled the tornado warning!
We all settled back in bed around 11.30pm but the thunder, lightening, rain and wind was still really strong so I didn't get to sleep right away.
However, despite lack of sleep, we all still had to get up early so Ben could get to work and…
It was a bit chilly out (well it wasn't in the 70s and was overcast). By the time we got there it was about 2pm and it was finishing at 3pm.
We all got a hotdog and a bag of chips and entered the raffle prize draw before wandering around the hospital looking at everything that was there for the event. K decided she wanted her face painted so I waited in line with her while Ben took Z for another look around.
A group of people that were at the face painting stand said they could listen to K talk all day as they loved her accent!
On the way out we picked up our raffle prizes. K chose a babydoll and Z chose a 6 pack of bubbles. We then had to go to Castleton as Ben wanted to get a t-shirt with a Union Jack on it for the Royal Wedding party we are going to. We also needed to get Z some shorts and new trousers as the ones he has are…
I saw this today when I was in school to do my volunteer shift in the Kindergarten Parent Center. "The Trip I was really excited because my dad told me that we were going to McDonalds. He surprised me and took me to a farm instead. I saw lots of horses. Some were brown. Some were balck. Some were many colors. I got to ride a horse. It was white with black spots. There were lots of baby ponies too. My brother was afraid but I really enjoyed riding the horses. By K" I would like to point out that this trip has never happened. Unless of course they all went out and left me at home without my knowledge. My daughter has an active imagination. Her stories always have lots of detail. I think this story may be something that she wants to actually do.
Friday was K's birthday and she turned 6. We had a cake that looked like a dog and had a living room with silver stars all over the floor. (This is courtesy of a gift she got that has lots of little stars in with the wrapping.) She had a ridiculous amount of gifts and we were up watching her opening them at 6.15am! She was very excited and managed to open them all in about 5 minutes! She then proceeded to watch her new DVD "Tangled" and play with all the toys before we went out to the movies to see "Hop" with a friend of mine and her son.
Saturday meant taking K to get her haircut as she had been going on about it for ages that she wanted it shorter. We then went to Castleton Square Mall so she could spend her birthday money and she wanted to go to Build A Bear workshop and get a new bunny. Ben took Z to the new Lego store where he took part in building a huge Lego Buzz Lightyear and he got a Certificate of Achievement for taking part.
This is a little look at where I call home now. One of the videos is a re-election video for the Mayor of Carmel. I'm not political and I can't vote but I wanted to share it as it gives a nice peek at the town.
