Ellen's Dance Dare

I like watching The Ellen DeGeneres Show and I mentioned to K last week that Ellen was doing a Dance Dare challenge and K said that she wanted to do it.

We went to the Super Bowl Village in downtown Indianapolis yesterday and when we were wandering around and looking at people go over head on the zipline, K decided that she wanted to do her dance challenge! Here is her attempt. It was windy so you may want to mute the sound.

We did have lots of fun wandering around and seeing all the Super Bowl stuff but it was cold and windy.

Driving to the Airport and other things.

Ben has been gone Monday to Friday for the last 3 weeks as he completes his training at his new job in South Carolina. At the start of every week we go to Indianapolis International Airport to drop him off for his flight to Charleston and I drive home again with the kids. On Friday evening I drive back to the airport and we pick him up again. I will be glad when we get home on Friday evening as that will be the end of the weekly trips down the 465! On the 2nd Sunday I was a bit apprehensive about driving back from the airport as it had snowed. Not much snow but enough for the roads to be a bit slick in spots and we saw around a dozen or so accidents on the way there and back. Guess what has happened today. The day before the final drive to the airport and it snows. Again! Hopefully the snow plows will have been out and the roads will be clear(er) by the time I have to drive there. I really regret asking where winter was a week or so ago. I should have kept my mouth shut! But it is fun making snow angels. I should really keep my coat on though!

We still don't know exactly when we will be moving. We have to find a place to live and the money for the move. I did find a place that I liked. Do you think Ben will go for it? Of course we would need to get a rather large mortgage....

I am continuing with my weight loss attempt. I have been to 2 WeightWatchers meetings and have so far lost 3.6lbs. I need to lose about another 50lbs though to get to the range I want to. I have been trying to do the workout DVD every other day and it is going quite well. Even though the weight is not coming off as quickly as I would really like, my clothes are starting to feel a little loose. If we will be living near a beach by summer, then every lb lost will help!

As it is January, that means that K is selling Girl Scout cookies again. If anyone in Carmel reads this blog and would like to order some from her, please contact me and let me know. The pic is from last year.

I am not sure that Girl Scout cookies should follow a paragraph about trying to lose weight though.

Can I Be The Biggest Loser?

I am going to try my hardest. I have enjoyed Christmas/New Year far too much and piled on more weight. So as a result, cut to January 2 2012 and I am registering to join WeightWatchers again! I bought some hand weights and a Biggest Loser workout DVD. I went back to WeightWatchers on Monday this week for my 1st weigh in since joining and I had lost 2.4lbs. Yay! I just hope I can keep it up! I have a long way to reach my goal. I did it before and I will do it again!

Where Is Winter

I have been wondering where winter is recently. This time last year we had the ice storm and snow. This year not so much. However, I just checked the Weather Channel app on my iPhone and this is the 10 day forecast for here in Carmel and for Mt Pleasant, SC where Ben is.

2012 Begins

...and it begins with a fab party and then almost immediately Ben leaving for South Carolina to undergo a month of training for his new job. He will be away Monday to Friday for around 3 weeks and then will work remotely from Indiana. We have to find somewhere to live in South Carolina that is affordable and in a good school district. (We have been lucky with the Carmel Clay School district and would like to find one similar)

Z and K are adjusting to the idea of moving although I am not totally certain K understands that she will not be able to see her 'BFFs' all the time.

I am still not going to be able to work but if all goes well then we should get an application for Greencards put in for us and that will change our situation. It would enable me to work, us to sell our house in the UK and buy something here and for us all to feel a bit more secure living in America. Until we have those little cards, we really don't know how long we will be here. It is a lot of uncertainty and I am sure a lot of people would not be able to live with it. It is difficult but we made the move and with it come sacrifices. I don't think I would be able to be one of those people who stays in the same town all their lives and only leaves to go on a 2 week vacation once a year. It is a big world out there and we want to see it. Z & K got their passports when they were almost 3 and 1 year old respectively. They are still in single digit ages and have already been to France, Portugal, Majorca, Canada, Florida, Georgia, N Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois. Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and of course Indiana.

We will miss Indiana when we move and all the lovely people we have met here, but of course you have to go where the opportunities are. Plus we do of course expect our friends to visit us in SC and we will still visit Indiana. :)

14 year olds & Green Cards

Did you know that you need to get a new green card when you turn 14? Do you know the reason why? No really, I'd like to know why. ...
